Dauphin Island
Beautiful Dauphin Island is called the crown jewel of the Gulf Coast and is at the most southern part of Alabama. This island has more than just white sugar sand beaches. It offers a life of quiet, stress-free living, deep sea fishing, sailing, swimming with the dolphins, fresh seafood, going back in history to a Civil War fort to explore, Indian shell mounds, sea shells on the beach, lush foliage in the Bird Sanctuary, abundant arts and crafts in Island shops, camping and motor home get-a-ways, the fun of pier fishing, and of course, beautiful white sugar sand beaches.
Where the dolphin play, Dauphin Island is part of the best kept secret of the Gulf of Mexico and only three miles off shore. It offers many recreational opportunities including swimming, skiing, sailing and golfing. The annual Alabama Deep Sea Fishing Rodeo and Liars Contest draws fishermen and fisherwomen from all over.
